It’s been weeks since my last post… I’m going to blame work, Stockholm Fashion Week, weddings in Scotland and the worryingly addictive nature of Tumblr, if that’s okay.

Uh, no, of course it isn’t okay.

The thing is, it’s only going to get worse, me thinks. Because starting next week, I will be the fashion blogger for Sweden.se, Sweden’s “official website”. Time for this blog will be in even shorter supply. *Gulp* But I’m not asking for pity. I love my job and I love my work (there IS a difference). I’m incredibly fortunate to even be doing what I’m doing and it’s really because of this blog I’m able to do it (more on that at a later date), so I’m not abandoning it.

Just bear with me as I try to figure out what to do with this blog.

After much um-ing and ah-ing about Underground round-toe creepers – basic black? leopard print? black AND leopard print? studded? – I bought a pair purely on a whim.

Ta-da! Navy blue velvet! An exclusive with Topshop, I first saw them on their blog last week and stalked the website everyday since. The thought of wearing it with an all black outfit thrills me, but I can also see it with brights and blue denim. Other exclusives include a red velvet pair and teal suede. Following on from my last post: Do the French do it better? Here’s a few looks from the Sandro A/W 2011 lookbook, which I’m equally smitten with.

It’s definitely a more sophisticated take with a minimal feel and limited colour palette, but the basic elements remain: skinny silhouette, tailoring, leopard print, creeper-ish shoes or loafers or lace-ups, cropped trousers, stripes and shirting. Magnifique!

New Mod

Now that we’ve come back from our summer holidays (Athens was hellishly expensive; Cinque Terre was magical), I feel it’s okay to start thinking about autumn clothes – for me that is, since I’ve been thinking about A/W 2011 for work for months already. The weather here in Stockholm is actually helping matters… hovering around 20 degrees during the day, busting out light coats at night.

In the past few weeks, I’ve managed to secure three key pieces from my “essential wardrobe needs” list. All vintage, all wallet-friendly, all from Etsy.

Leather biker jacket – black. I always imagined a cropped version, but the moment I clapped eyes on a longer, looser version with bracelet sleeves (i.e., more like a coat!) I knew it was for me.
Chelsea boots – black. Cut just over the ankle, white contrast stitching and the perfect toe shape.
Shirt with Peter Pan collar – white. Short-sleeved so great for layering. Also has press studs to keep the collar in place. It’s the little things that count.

Now while I was hunting for the items above, good ol’ Topshop unveiled their A/W 2011 lookbook. Going by the book, neatly divided into four collections or personas, I am obviously poised to channel the “New Mod” look:

In truth, this has always more or less been my everyday style. Just add some full skirts (midi and mini), grey marl and a few more blazers. It’s the combination of prep, punk and pretty that I seem to favour. So does this mean I’m done shopping for an autumn wardrobe update? Gasp! Could be!

Enamoured

I haven’t been this enamoured with a look for awhile, probably because it contains a few things I’ve been lusting after for a very long time:

Blonde-ish hair on an Asian.
Black leather motorcycle jacket.
Alexander Wang Brenda bag – a classic in my eyes.
The slouchy white T-shirt + tailored shorts combination.
