I’m not sure if you knew, but I had a food-centric Tumblr for awhile… Sustenance Junkie, RIP. I wasn’t giving it enough effort, so I simply deleted it. Sometimes I’m not so sentimental about things. Also on the sly, I started a Tumblr to accompany this blog a while ago, mainly to see what the fuss was all about, but since Pinterest has been my main squeeze, that didn’t get much love either. And since it was attached to my “primary” Tumblr of Sustenance Junkie, that had to be deleted, too.
But happyhappyjoyjoy, I finally got an iPhone yesterday. I am in L-O-V-E. I would have got one sooner, but these damn Swedish mobile phone contracts. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Anyhoo, of course I’ve been downloading apps like crazy, like Instagram AND Hipstamatic. But all those photos need homes of their own in cyberspace and since WordPress doesn’t seem like an option, enter Tumblr again.
So here’s the deal. Though this is still very early doors, I’m thinking this blog will my outlet for longer, more considered posts, while Tumblr will be my eyes and ears on-the-go. Pinterest is still the place to have all my images organised neatly and in moodboards/categories. But because I’ll be posting photos via Instagram (or Hipstamatic, or both?) by me, of me, with me, etc. the Tumblr may end up being slightly more “personal”, if you fancy that kind of thing a bit more. It certainly will become the dumping ground for other subjects I don’t cover here, like food. And to be brutally honest, the Tumblr will probably be updated more often – “Have iPhone, Will Blog More” is a motto I should perhaps trademark?
So without further adieu, here is my Serotonin Junkie Tumblr, subtitled Part Deux: Instant Gratification. Click on the image to take you to the site… enjoy.
Your Autumn 2011 Accessories Index is going to be the death of me.
Apologies, I’ve been missing in action for awhile… but here’s what I’ve been up to since we last meaningfully spoke:
Booked our summer holiday. First, to Athens for a wedding then immediately to the area in northern Italy called Cinque Terre for a few days of walking from village to village along the coast, eating, drinking and swimming. Can. Not. Wait.
Bought another bag. Oops. This time, a neon Cambridge Satchel in collaboration with Dover Street Market. Yes, it’s as screaming bright as you can imagine neon pink to be. But I’m in love. In case you’re wondering, I got the 11″ directly from The Cambridge Satchel Company, which was not only cheaper than buying from DSM, but you get the whole variety of sizes, too.
Obsessing over the Sandro S/S 2011 lookbook. The perfect combination of pretty, preppy and laidback Parisian chic. Though I might toughen up some of the looks, I want it all! Gah!
Debating whether I need or want an iPad 2.
With a few deadlines this Friday and then off to the UK for the weekend, it may be another few days before you hear from me again. But know that I’m thinking about you!
… I’ll be talking my face off with family and old friends whilst in Toronto. Can’t wait. So much to catch up on. Picture above from here.
… I hope to get an iPhone. Yessssssssss! So naturally, my mind also veers towards accessories. This one is currently rocking my world.
… I await the arrival of the Penfield parka that I talked about the other day.
… I really must get the winter coats and scarves down from the attic space. God, I can be so lazy sometimes.
… I’ll be researching (read: obsessing over) small pendant lights to go over the breakfast bar. I like me some good task lighting for preparing food, but they’re aesthetic, as well. Duh.
… I need to get rid of the “blondies” I baked over the weekend (from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook). And I would prefer if it wasn’t me alone in the corner scoffing them one by one. Again. Oh, the shame.
… I probably need to start stockpiling ingredients for the belated Thanksgiving Dinner we’re having, uh, Halloween weekend. Hey, I’ve never been very traditional.
… I hope to work, go home, cook, eat, chill out, go to bed early and repeat everyday with no drama.
A fine example of licensing done well: the Etch-a-Sketch iPad case. What child doesn’t have fond memories of their Etch-a-Sketch? Oh, the marketing ploys of tapping into that nostalgia… I’m not ashamed to admit it got me, though. I don’t even own an iPad, but if I did, I would run out and get this case!
For a little while now I’ve been seeing posts about Pinterest and was, well, mighty interested in it. It’s probably best to let them explain it:
What is Pinterest? Pinterest is a place to curate and share things you love. Think of it as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can post collections of things you love, and “follow” collections created by people you admire.
Though I’ve only been dabbling in it for less than an hour, I can already sense that it will soon become my go-to place to save all the gorgeous pictures and links I come across. No more dragging pictures into a folder onto my desktop and forgetting where I found it! No more overloading my computer with hundreds of images! No more bookmarking links at random! All I need to do when I come across something on the web is to hit the “Pin It” button they provide for your toolbar, fill in details like title, description and tags according to how organised you want to be…then voila! It’s on your chosen pinboard.
Though I have been trying out Delicious all week, the advantage of Pinterest in my mind is that it’s pretty to look at (uh, very important to me!), intuitive and makes for sharing via Facebook, Twitter or even this blog super-easy. You can “like” pins just like Facebook and re-pin items you find on other people’s pinboards for yourself. I really like how you “curate” boards that give a great overview of what you’re digging, lusting after, inspired by, etc. Have a look:
To join, you must request an invite, which I had to do, but it only took a day to be accepted. I’ve got a few free invites to pass on, so let me know if you’re also interested and I’ll wing them your way!
I decided to give the blog a little facelift… do you like?
Also, I’m now on Twitter. Expect even more inane babbling from me. You’ll find the tweets at the right, but you can also follow me @sabrinashim if you are on Twitter, too!
Now all I need is that iPhone 4G.
